Don Weller

Although I never believed in Santa Clause, I always believed in cowboys. My search for cowboys to drawing and paint, started early with western movies and continued horseback, roping in college rodeos and competing on cutting horses. This led to roundups, brandings, red rock canyons, and on mountain trails. The images created along the way are the scattered tracks on that lifelong path and are collected in a new book called Don Weller Tracks, A Visual Memoir. It won the Western Heritage Award from The National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City. Among other recent awards, the most unexpected surprise was an honorary doctorate from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
