Light Harvest II
Oil on Wood Panel
25" x 13"
There’s something about the intensity and warmth of late afternoon light and the smell of freshly cut fields, that lingers deep within us long after the sun has set. Add in summer’s metronome: the mesmerizing cadence of the hay-baler as the sun fades to early evenings light.
I was intrigued by this farms backdrop of forest and rocky outcroppings contrasting its groomed field. The depth of the forest is expressed through a background of sculpted layers of glazed, pulled paint. It’s a texture to get lost in while the placement of hay bales and machinery on the foreground provide a more defined pattern of shape. The painting is a balance between the sunlight’s alternating warmth and shadow, between a moment and its memory.
