"The great constant in all of my art is the horse. From Western Art to Sporting Art, the paintings are always horse-related - from Rodeo to Polo."
Will's Western Paintings were featured for fifteen years in the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum Western Spirit Art Show, winning “Best in Show” in 2018,” "Maverick’s Choice” in 2019, “Best Acrylic” in 2016 and 2012 and best miniature in 2013. Ersland took home a Best of the West Blue Ribbon and a Best of the Wild Horse 2nd place Ribbon in the Rock Springs Wild Horse Art Show in 2011.
In 2020 Ersland was selected to be an artist in the Cheyenne Frontier Days Summer Western Art Show, following it up by showing again in 2021, selling artwork both years. 2022 will see his work again at the CFD Summer Art Show in July.
His work has also been exhibited at March in Montana, The Mountain Oyster Art Show in Tucson, AZ, the American Plains Artists show in Texas and was accepted as an exhibiting member in the Association of American Equine Artists with shows in North Carolina, winning “The Sporting Art Award” in 2019. Work can be seen at finer galleries out West and Florida.
“This love for Western Art is rooted in my interests in horses, riding and American History.”
An avid horse owner and rider, Ersland has fox hunted from fast horseback but these days prefers the slower thrill of trail riding and training his big sport horse Ike. All this riding experience has made him an informed artist on the ways and feel of the horse.
