Cowboy Traditions

18" x 24"

These two young cowboys are following in the footsteps of the generations of ranchers that have gone before them. Their family uses horses to move cattle, foregoing four-wheelers in favor of equine partners.  Even at this age, the boys already know the calm rhythms of the cows, plodding toward the destination pasture, gently swinging their ropes to keep things moving along. With sage in the air, alfalfa blooming and a gentle breeze to keep most of the bugs at bay, it was a beautiful day I felt compelled to paint.
