Light and Life
12" x 16"
This painting was a full year in the making. It started as a demonstration painting for my first online class over zoom. I left it set up in my studio and revisited it off and on. The plant was watered, growing, dying back, growing again over time. At times thriving beyond the boundaries of the painting. I chased it. Adding leaves and cutting them back. Over the year of development I grew and died back and found myself thriving beyond boundaries right along with it. There is an ebb and flow to these things. Some paintings come fast and others slow. I love how the hidden layers of the journey are embedded in the surface of the paint.
